Cubic Yards Formula
Heavy materials like ready-mix concrete, gravel, and mulch are universally sold by the cubic yard. A cubic yard is a block measuring 3ft x 3ft x 3ft, equating to precisely 27 cubic feet. When pouring a standard 4-inch concrete patio, you must calculate Length × Width × Depth (converted to feet), and then divide by 27. A standard mixer truck holds approximately 10 cubic yards.
